Dixie Annual Meeting & Instructor Updates
The 2006 Dixie Division Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, October 14 at the Nantahala Outdoor Center at the Nantahala River starting at 7:30pm. Food, including fresh Savannah shrimp, will be provided, but it’s BYOB!
Join us as we donate the money that we’ve raised over the course of the year to numerous worthwhile paddling and water conservation based organizations. Do you know of a group that could use some monetary assistance? If so let us know. We will also have presentations from several different folks on a wide range of issues pertaining to our region.
We also are accepting nominees for the Dave Mason Dixie Division Volunteer of the Year Award. If you have any noteworthy candidates, please forward their names and a brief explanation as to why they should receive the award to me by Sept 15th.
Our annual Fall Instructor and Instructor Trainer Updates will take place during the day on Saturday and Sunday October 14 + 15 please contact Justin Padgett landmarklearning@earthlink.net or website: @ http://landmarklearning.org/ - the Division Instruction Facilitator, for more information.
On Friday, October 13, we will be reinstating the Commodore’s Cruise!! If you would like to join several members of the Dixie Executive Committee for a paddle down the Upper Green River in NC (not the Narrows, but the class II(III) section just above there) please contact chstec@yahoo.com for more details. We’ll be meeting early Friday morning so if you’re coming from far away, you can actually stay with me on Thursday night as I live very close to the put-in. This should be a fun paddle and I hope you can join me, both canoes and kayaks welcome! Also on Friday evening, the Dixie Executive Committee will be hosting a dinner for all Paddling Club Presidents at the Nantahala Village at 7:00pm. Please RSVP to Larry Horton, hdownstream@aol.com.
See you on the water, Christopher Stec chstec@yahoo.com
